Lydia suggests that if we are to look around when we are out and about we’ll notice that there are people from different countries and from different cultures. Do a quick survey of the people in your class finding out the different countries people come from, or the different cultures they relate with, or something else that you notice about the people in your class.

Imagine you’ve just got home from school and someone asks you, “What did you learn today?” Explain to them the idea of diversity, what it means, and why it’s good to celebrate diversity.

It’s great when Lydia points out that when it comes to other people, we are the different ones. How would you want people to feel and act around you, when you’re the different one?

Three things are suggested in this video to help us celebrate someone who is different: Ask questions, Learn, and Include. Use some time right now to think of some questions you could ask; someone who is from another country, someone who is blind, someone who wears religious clothing, someone who is really old, someone who has a different interest than you.

As a group, come up with some ways that you would like to be included when you might be the different one.

In the beginning of the video Stu tells us he’s going to make three different types of wristbands. Discuss why he’s making three different ones.
